Pastor John’s Retirement / Birthday Celebration Announced

The family and friends of Perry Congregational Christian Church announce a retirement/80th birthday open house for Reverend Dr. John Walworth (“Pastor John”).  The celebration will take place Saturday, April 20, 1:00-4:00 PM in the church fellowship hall, 128 E. Second Street, Perry.

Pastor John officially retired in January after nearly 14 years in the pulpit at Perry Congregational, after what was to be a two-week interim period. He is well-known and loved in the area, having held many pastorate, leadership, and other vocational positions around the county, including Grand Trunk Western Railroad and 25 years as Spiritual Care Director at Memorial Healthcare.  His years of preaching the Gospel and counseling have touched numerous congregations as near as Durand where he and wife, Lois, make their home, and as far as Uganda.  His years of active service around the county include multiple ministerial associations, Respite of Shiawassee, Hospice of Shiawassee County, Durand Area Food Bank, Pat’s Place, Durand City Council and Mayor, International Ministerial Fellowship, Michigan Hospice, Association of American Chaplains, and Durand Union Station. His volunteer work, along with an extensive education in Christian Education and Psychology have afforded him numerous speaking opportunities, awards, and accolades.

The Walworths and their church family look forward to greeting well-wishers and sharing memories. A light lunch will be available.
