Redeeming the Past – July 2020

Pastor’s Pen July 1, 2020

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust…”
                                                                 Joel 2: 25 NKJV

Regret is a terrible feeling for any man or woman, including the man of God. Regret causes him to look back at past mistakes, indiscretions, and missed opportunities and think, ‘if I could only go back to that time in my life, I’d do so much differently. I’d make much better decisions.’
Nearly everyone has things in his past he’s not proud of—things he knows God would not approve of if he did them in the present. But God promises to redeem your past mistakes, sins, and missteps and use them for His glory and your good.
That is partially what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote, ” We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8: 28 NIV).
The past is just that—the past. And there is nothing you can do to change it. You can’t undo the things you wish you hadn’t done, and you can’t redo the things you wish you had done. But when you bring your past to the Lord, He has a way of redeeming even your worst mistakes and using them to build something good.
Be blessed, knowing God has your best interests at heart.

Have a great July!
